In Ukraine, apostilization of documents is now carried out by notaries

On March 7, 2020, changes came into force that provide notaries with the opportunity to accept documents requiring apostilization, generate and register the corresponding application using the Electronic Register of Apostilles. The documents submitted for apostilization are reviewed by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

Once positive decision is obtained, the notary puts on the document an apostille print, formed using software for maintaining the Electronic Register of Apostilles in the form of an electronic document, with a mandatory apostil stamp on the documents issued by the justice authorities and the courts, as well as on documents drawn up by notaries of Ukraine.

Documents provided for apostillization are rendered to the applicant or other person indicated in the relevant application. In addition, they can also be issued to a proxy person.

Taking into account that a significant number of documents provided for apostillization are indeed documents issued by notaries, their involvement in the apostillization process will simplify this service and make it more convenient for customers.
